Institutional Behavior Management (IBM)
Research indicates that behavior management is crucial for student learning1, more important than anything else at school, which should make it a priority for each and every school; our institutional behavior management (IBM) program helps school best manage its students.
Our program stands out because it enables all stakeholders— the school’s governing authority, students, parents, and teachers— to agree on clear measures and appropriate actions for behavioral issues, which is a critical preemptive step to defuse any potential disagreements.
The core of the program is teacher training, using a time-tested approach proven effective at school2, especially customized for the MENA region. Moreover, the training includes a user-friendly software for assessing and tracking student behavior, which helps give the students appropriate positive and negative consequences. The program also discusses the close relationship between behavior management and student-centered learning.
For the school’s administration, the number of behavioral issues they need to address is reduced dramatically, as teachers are also trained to handle most behavioral situations without escalation to the admin. The program’s nonconfrontational nature ensures students feel safe and parents know their children are treated with respect. At the same time, teachers find the system effective for managing student behavior.
To guarantee the program’s success and high quality, we abide by the code of conduct and all related stipulations from the MoE in the respective country we run the program in (so far, we have successfully applied the program at schools in Egypt and Saudi Arabia). We also apply our own SPACE cycle (Standards, Procedures, Assessment, and Contemplation in Education), which ensures all the program’s components are designed, implemented, and evaluated effectively. The program is flexible and can be tailored to each school’s needs.
